reading a lot of profiles this month and something has started to bother me.
they all sound the same. not the same interests, the same voice. the same handful of phrases turn up over and over. the same structure, the same running order, the same jokes made in the same place. i read forty profiles on sunday and i could not tell you which one belonged to whom by monday.
and then i went and read my own and it is exactly the same. i have used at least three of the phrases i had been rolling my eyes at.
i am not sure whether this is a complaint or an observation. maybe it is just what happens when a subject has a vocabulary. everyone in any hobby sounds like everyone else in that hobby.
but it does make the whole thing harder, because if every page reads identically then the only thing left to choose on is photos, which is exactly what everyone here says not to do.
does anyone deliberately write against it? and does it work or does it just read as somebody trying too hard.
