- Married twenty four years, this quietly present for about fifteen.

For twenty two years there was always somebody else in the house. Now there is not, and the thing we have discovered is that we spent two decades keeping this very small and very quiet and we no longer remember how to make it bigger.
Fifty and fifty two, north side, married twenty four years. He leads, in a low key way that mostly lives in habits neither of us has ever named out loud. Fifteen years of that, and about four conversations about it in total, which we are aware is not many. So we are posting slightly out of our depth. We do not know what we want yet, and we have decided that admitting it is better than inventing a specific request to look competent.
What we think we want is to talk to people. Couples who have been through the same passage, who found that the space suddenly available was harder to use than expected. What did you actually change. What did you leave alone. Did it get better or just louder.
We are not looking for anything physical with anybody at this stage and we might never be. We would rather say that than let somebody invest. Both of us work and both of us are discreet by habit rather than by necessity, although his job is the more sensitive of the two.
Not looking for advice from people who started last year. Not looking for a couple who want to demonstrate anything. Not looking to be hurried through a stage we have only just entered.
