Moved here in March with a job, still living out of corporate housing

The company moved me and about forty other people down here in the spring. I am twenty seven, I know the eleven colleagues who came with me, and I know nobody else in this metro at all.
The apartment I am in is furnished by my employer and it is not really mine, which turns out to matter more than I expected. I cannot host in a place where the lease has my manager's signature somewhere near it. That will change in the autumn. Until then I am asking for patience about logistics.
Submissive, a year and a half of this and mostly on a screen, plus one weekend at the start of the year with somebody I trusted in the city I came from, which went well and did not turn into anything because I was already leaving.
What I actually want first is teaching. Somebody experienced who will explain what they are doing and why, who will let me ask an unreasonable number of questions, and who is not going to be offended when I get the vocabulary wrong. I am not looking for a whirlwind and I am specifically not looking to be somebody's first attempt at leading, because two beginners together is how I imagine most of the bad stories start.
I have no idea how the geography here works yet. People keep telling me a place is close and then it takes forty minutes. Tell me where you are and I will believe you rather than the map. Not looking to be rushed. Not looking for anything I could not explain to myself afterwards.
