i know ghosting is normal app behaviour and i thought i was appropriately armoured. apparently not.

two weeks of daily conversation with someone from one of the kink apps. real conversation, not small talk. compatible roles, compatible weirdness, we had started talking about which weekend to meet for coffee. i suggested a specific cafe. she said perfect. that was nine days ago and her last message just sits there being the word perfect.

no argument, no weird message from me, i’ve checked the thread like a forensic accountant. her profile is still active, which somehow makes it worse.

the vanilla version of this stung less. here i’d shared things about my dynamic side that i don’t tell anyone in my daily life, and the silence lands on all of that too, if that makes sense. so, veterans: is the great-chat ghost a known species? does an explanation ever arrive? and how do you keep sharing openly with the next person when this is a possible outcome every single time?

What the handbook says about this

Scene talk is mostly about doors: who gets filtered out on sight, who lives too far from any of it, what a silence at the end of a good conversation is made of, and what the community does and does not remember about the people in it.
