trans woman, thirty one, new to all this rather than new to dating generally, and stuck on the same question everyone has probably already asked here.

do i put it on the profile or not.

if i do, i am fairly sure a chunk of people scroll past, and a different chunk arrive with exactly one thing on their mind, and i have already had enough of those messages to last me. if i do not, then i am doing it in chat at some point, which turns it into an announcement with a drum roll, and that is worse in a different way.

i have written the line about six ways. matter of fact, warm, brief, one that made a joke of it which i deleted immediately. none of them sit right, mostly because i cannot tell whether i am writing a fact about myself or a warning label.

i would really like to hear from people who have solved this, or at least made peace with it. and if there are corners of this world where it is less of a thing, i would like to know where they are.

What the handbook says about this

Everyone on this board is standing at the same door with a different reason for not opening it. The handbook takes the three in order: what the thing actually is, the routes people take to meet anyone, and the slower version where the person you want to explore with is already in the house.
