This was his idea. I want that in the first paragraph, because every couple on here says it was mutual and in our case it very clearly was not, and I would rather be the couple that admits it than the couple that gets found out in the third conversation.
Thirty two and thirty four, city centre, together two years.
What is also true is that I said yes after four months of thinking about it, and that in the six months since I have become considerably more interested than he expected. So the honest position is that it started as his and has become ours, which is a different thing from mutual and a different thing again from me going along with it to keep him happy.
We have one rule, made after reading a great many posts by people who wished they had made it. Either of us can stop the whole thing at any point, without giving a reason, and the other does not get to negotiate. He wrote that rule, which is the main reason I trust the rest of this.
We are looking for one person, eventually, for something that is not a single evening. We do not know yet what shape it takes and we are suspicious of couples who claim to know that in advance. Not looking for anything quick. Not looking for somebody who wants to tell us what we ought to want. And if you think we sound like a couple heading for trouble, we would genuinely rather hear it than not.
