Three hours on a Saturday, once a fortnight, and that is all of it

- Looking for
- people who understand a small window and will not push at it
- Experience
- Eleven years together, seven with this, and steadily less time.
- Around
- south of the city, Birmingham
Once a fortnight the children go to their grandparents and we have from about eleven in the morning until about two. That is our entire life in this. It is not much and we have stopped apologising for it, because the alternative was doing nothing whatsoever, which is more or less what the last four years looked like.
Thirty eight and forty, south of the city, together eleven years, this part of it for seven.
The practical consequence is that we cannot be spontaneous, we cannot do anything in an evening, and we cannot stay out afterwards. It also means that when the window does arrive we are not willing to spend forty minutes of it on introductions, so we would want to have met properly beforehand, more than once, with none of the family arrangements involved.
She leads, I do not, and that has been settled between us for years. What we are looking for is another couple in a similar position, or one person whose own schedule is odd enough that a Saturday morning does not read as an insult.
Not looking for anybody who will suggest we could make more time if we really wanted to, which somebody said to us last year and which I am apparently still thinking about. Not looking for evenings. And nothing at our house, ever, which is the one rule we have never once bent.
