If you are never going to meet me, please do not write for months

- Looking for
- one person who will be in an actual room within a fortnight
- Experience
- Ten years, and lately a great deal of very high quality typing.
- Around
- uptown, Dallas
Last year I had three conversations that each ran for months. Thoughtful, funny, genuinely enjoyable messages, hundreds of them, and not one of those people ever agreed to be in a room with me. Two of them are presumably still writing to somebody. One of them told me, at the end, that they preferred it this way and had known that from the start.
I do not think anybody behaved badly. I think a lot of people on boards like this want a correspondent and are not honest with themselves about it, and I have decided to be rude about it in advance rather than lose another year.
Thirty five, uptown, switch, ten years, both directions and fairly even. What I want is a long dynamic with somebody who lives here and is willing to be seen having a coffee with me inside two weeks of a first message.
That is the whole filter. Everything else about me is negotiable and I am easy to get on with. I have no objection to talking first. I object to talking instead.
If what you actually want is a writing relationship, that is a legitimate thing to want and there are people here who want the same, and telling me in the first message costs you nothing. Not looking for anybody who needs a month of vetting before a public coffee. Not looking for someone whose schedule will clear up in the autumn.
