I have lived in the east end my whole life and I am not moving. Every second post on this board assumes that anything worth doing happens somewhere else, and I have started finding it funny rather than annoying, which I consider progress.
Forty two, switch, sixteen years in, own flat, nobody to answer to.
I will travel and I do, but I would like at least half of whatever this is to happen at my end of the city, and I would like that not to be treated as a concession. People come out here for other things without complaining about it. I have had two dynamics collapse under nothing but geography and a certain amount of quiet snobbery that neither of us named at the time.
What I want is one person, both directions, something steady and unremarkable that runs for years rather than a series of separate arrangements. I lead in the practical things and follow in the physical ones, which is the opposite of most people I meet and took me years to be able to say out loud.
Not looking for anybody who has to check where that is on a map. Not looking for a person who will suggest somewhere central every single time. Not looking to have this same conversation again in month three.
