I moved here three years ago for somebody who left me eight months later, and then I stayed, which surprises people including me.
Thirty two, switch, city centre, originally from Newcastle, seven years in this. The relationship was the reason I came and it is not the reason I am still here. I like it. I like that people say what they mean, which is not what I was used to, and I like that going out does not require a plan made a fortnight in advance.
What I do not have is any of the connective tissue. I know about nine people and six of them are colleagues. In this, I know nobody at all, and every conversation I have had on this board has petered out at roughly the same point, which I suspect is where it becomes clear that I have no history here and nobody to vouch for me.
What I want is one person, both directions, ongoing and unhurried. I lead slightly more than I follow.
Not looking for anybody who wants to know why she left, which I have been asked twice on a first meeting. Not looking to be somebody's project of settling in. Not looking for a person who is themselves about to leave, because I have had my fill of that particular year.
