We have been together six months and we have twenty five years of this between us, all of it with other people. Working out how to merge two established ways of doing something is much harder than either of us expected.
Forty five and forty one, city centre. He ran long formal arrangements with written agreements. I did the opposite, entirely instinctive, and have never written anything down in my life. Both of us assumed our way was simply how it is done.
We are posting because we would like one person for occasional evenings, and we want to be honest that we are still calibrating. Six months in we agree on what we want and we are still learning how the other one gets there. That is not instability. It is just recent, and anybody involved should know it.
We are both experienced, we are both careful, and we negotiate in a great deal of detail, partly because we have to translate between ourselves first.
Not looking for anybody who wants a settled household, since ours is six months old. Not looking for a person who would end up taking sides in a discussion between us, which happened to him before and which he will not repeat. Not looking to rush into anything permanent while we are still working out the basics.
