Sixty two, forty years at sea, and finally in one place

- Looking for
- somebody patient with a man who has been away his whole life
- Experience
- Thirty years, all of it abroad, none of it here and none of it lasting.
- Around
- Sefton, Liverpool
I went to sea at nineteen and I came ashore for good three years ago. Everything I know about this happened in other countries, in short bursts, with people I would not see again for eight months, and it means I have thirty years of experience and no idea how any of it works when you live in the same place as somebody.
Sixty two, Sefton, in a house I have owned for twenty years and slept in for perhaps four of them.
What I have never had is continuity. Not once. Every arrangement I ever made had an end date printed on it by the shipping company, and I got very good at the beginning of things and never learned the middle.
So what I want is the middle. Something ordinary and continuous with a woman who wants a man around and expects things of him. I am useful, I am tidy in a way that borders on a condition, and I have cooked for thirty people at a time in a rolling galley so a dinner party holds no fear. I am also, and I will say this plainly, quite lonely, and I am not going to pretend otherwise to look better.
Not looking for anything long distance, which I have had a lifetime of. Not looking for sea stories, which everyone asks for and which I am bored of. Not looking to be anybody's project in retirement.
