I finish work at half past midnight four nights out of seven, which is the single most important thing in this post and the reason most conversations here die around message six.
Three years in. One dynamic that lasted most of it and ended because he took a job two hundred miles north, which is nobody's fault and still annoying. Since then I have had four promising starts and all four hit the same wall. They wanted Friday evenings. Friday evening is when I am carrying plates. So: someone who works odd hours themselves, or who genuinely does not mind that our time is Tuesday afternoon and the occasional Sunday. If you read that and thought you could probably make it work, read it again. Half the people who said that to me meant they would try for a month.
What I want is not complicated. Someone in charge, over a long stretch, who checks in when nothing is happening. I like rules that survive contact with real life. I do not need equipment, a title, or a weekend away, although I would not turn down a weekend away. I am twenty nine, south east, and I do not drive, so anything past the end of the line becomes a genuine problem for me after midnight.
