Two of us from Mexico City, five years here, still finding our people

We came here for my husband's work five years ago and we have still not built the life we had at home. In Mexico City we had a circle, people we had known for years, a whole set of Saturdays. Here we have colleagues, neighbors we wave to, and each other.
Thirty eight and forty one, the Valley, together eleven years, married nine. This has been part of our marriage almost from the beginning and we have never done any of it with anybody else. That was not a rule we made. It is just how it went, and now that our life is quieter we have begun to wonder what we have been missing.
So we are asking for friendship first. Other people who understand this part, who we could see often enough that it becomes ordinary. If that eventually became something more we would be open to it, and we are in no hurry to arrive there.
We both speak English all day at work and are perfectly comfortable in it, although my written English is slower than my spoken and this post has taken me two evenings. If you also speak Spanish that would be a pleasure rather than a requirement.
We are not looking for a third person to join our marriage. We have discussed it many times and we agree. What we are looking for is company, and a scene that stops feeling as though it belongs to other people.
