Musician, gone in six week blocks, home for months at a time

- Looking for
- somebody who can pick things back up rather than starting over
- Experience
- Seven years, both sides, two dynamics that did not survive a tour.
- Around
- the east side, Los Angeles
I leave for six weeks, I come home for three months, I leave again. That has been the shape of the last nine years and it is not going to change, because the alternative is a job I would be bad at and miserable in.
Thirty four, the east side, switch, seven years in on both sides of it. The thing that has killed two of these is not the leaving. It is the coming back. Somebody spends six weeks quietly deciding they were fine without me, which they were, and then we spend three months being polite to each other. I have thought about it a great deal and I think the answer is that I need somebody whose own life is full enough that my absence is not experienced as a verdict.
When I am home I am completely available and I mean that. No commute, no early starts, entire weekdays. When I am away I am reliable in writing and hopeless on a schedule, because the time zones move and so does the sleep.
I go both ways and I mean it properly. I would like somebody who can also do both, or at least somebody honestly curious about it rather than doing me a favor twice a year.
I am not looking for anybody who wants to come along. It sounds romantic and it is a van, a bad sandwich and a load in at two in the afternoon.
