The house is empty again and we are picking this back up

- Thirty years together, active in our twenties, nothing since.

- the South Bay, Los Angeles
We were deep in this before we had children. Then we had children, and it went into a box in the garage along with a great deal else, and the box stayed shut for about nineteen years. The youngest moved out in June. The house is extremely quiet.
Fifty four and fifty six, the South Bay, together thirty years. What we have found on opening the box is that everything has changed. The language, the etiquette, the way people talk about consent: all of it is better and almost none of it is familiar. We keep reading things and recognizing the substance underneath unfamiliar words.
We are looking for another couple in roughly our position. Around our age, restarting rather than beginning, with enough history behind them to find the whole situation funny rather than daunting. We would like to be friends first and see what develops, at the speed of two people who have been married for decades and are not in any rush.
We host well. We have a big table and a lot of practice at feeding people.
We are not looking for a third. We are also not looking for anyone in their twenties, which we say with no judgment at all, only that we would like to talk about the same decades. And we would rather meet four times before anything happens, because we have both watched enough friends make a mess of this to know that slow is the entire trick.
