I do not go into the centre. Not for this. It has cost me at least three connections that could have worked and I have made my peace with the cost, because the alternative is a life organised around a two hour round trip at one in the morning for other people's convenience.
Forty two, Madrid, dominant, eighteen years, and everything I have done in this has happened within about twenty minutes of my front door. That is not laziness. It is the discovery that a dynamic which requires a journey to exist stops existing the moment somebody is tired.
My end of town has a real pool, spread across four or five districts that all sit a few stops from each other, and it is quieter and slower to open than people in the middle expect. Introductions here still tend to happen through people rather than through boards, which is exactly why I am on a board: I would like to meet somebody whose friends are not also my friends.
What I run is domestic and long term. Standing rules, a daily rhythm, service that is real rather than symbolic. I am not interested in anything theatrical and I do not attend events. I grew up speaking Basque at home and I work in Spanish and I am content in either. My English is functional, which you can probably tell.
Not looking for anybody who will propose, in message three, that I come to them for the first meeting because they are busier than me. Everyone is busy. The question is only ever who is willing to say so honestly.
