We are in our early fifties, we have been married twenty two years, and for nine of those there has been a dynamic between us that nobody in our lives knows about. It works. We are not writing here because anything is wrong.
What we do not have is a single person we can talk to about it. Not one. There is no one in either of our families, no one at either of our workplaces, and after nine years of running something entirely on instinct we have started to notice how much we are guessing.
So this is not a post looking for a third person, or for play, or for anything to happen in a room. We would like to meet another couple, somewhere ordinary, and have dinner, and find out how other people do this. If in a year that has turned into a friendship where things are occasionally shared, we would not be against it. But that is a year away and we would rather say so.
He leads, I do not, and both of us are more shy about all of this than twenty two years of marriage would suggest.
We are in Madrid and can be free most weekends and some evenings after nine. We would want to write for a while first. We would want to meet somewhere public and stay there. And we would want both of you present from the beginning, because a couple where only one person writes is a couple where only one person wants this, and we have learned to notice.
