My working day ends somewhere around four in the morning. I have made peace with it. What I have not made peace with is the number of people who tell me they are fine with unusual hours and then go quiet after three weeks of receiving my messages at times that wake them up.
Thirty four, Madrid, dominant, eleven years. I work in radio, on the shift that exists because a surprising number of this country is awake, and my free time is Monday and Tuesday in daylight.
Here is how I actually run a dynamic, and it is not for everyone. Almost all of it is written. Instructions in the evening, a report in the morning, a proper conversation once a week and time in a room maybe twice a month. Some people find that thin. The ones it suits find it the opposite: they say the writing makes it constant instead of occasional, and I agree with them.
So I want somebody who can write. Not beautifully. Honestly, and at some length, and without needing to be asked twice. The reports are the dynamic. If they become three words at midnight, there is nothing left.
I am dry, I am not remotely stern in person, and I laugh at the wrong moments. Not looking for anybody who wants a title. Not looking for anybody who needs an answer within the hour, because at some hours I am asleep and at others I am live. Not looking for someone who will find the daylight version of me disappointing.
