He leaves on Monday morning and comes back Thursday night, most weeks, and has done for six years. That means our household runs on a four day rhythm that everybody who has ever been involved with us has had to accommodate.
Forty two and forty five, Brickell, together twelve years. She leads. He does not, and neither do the people we have been involved with.
What we are looking for is one person for an ongoing arrangement, with a defined place in how our week works. The honest shape of it is that you would see a great deal of her and considerably less of him, because he is in another city half the time, and that has to be something you actively want rather than tolerate.
Our previous arrangement ran three years and ended because she moved. What made it work was that all three of us treated the Monday to Thursday half of the week as its own thing rather than as a diminished version of the whole.
We move slowly. Public meetings, several of them, all three present at least twice before anything at all.
We are not looking for somebody who wants to be part of a marriage, and we are not looking for anybody who reads a woman leading a household as a novelty. If you find yourself explaining our own arrangement back to us, that will be the last conversation.
