Six years overseas, back since March, and I do not know my own city

- a dominant for something long and quite formal, with high standards
- Experience
- Nine years in total, six of them somewhere much larger.
- Around
- the inner west, Sydney
I spent six years in London and I was properly, deeply in it there. I came back in March and I have spent the months since discovering that I do not know how any of this works in my own city, which is humbling and slightly ridiculous.
Thirty three, the inner west, submissive, nine years in total. What is different: everything is further apart, everybody seems to know each other, and the whole thing moves at about a quarter of the pace I got used to. I have written to eleven people and had four replies, and I have been told, fairly, that I come across as impatient.
I am aware that this post is one sentence away from being the returned expat who thought it was better overseas. It was not better. It was bigger, which is a different thing, and what I actually miss is the anonymity.
What I want is a dominant for something long and quite formal. Protocol suits me. I like being held to a standard that does not move about. I am at my best when expectations are high and completely clear, and at my worst when I am left to interpret.
Not looking for anybody who wants to hear about London, which is already a running joke among my friends. Not looking for anything casual. Not looking to spend another four months being politely told that people will get back to me.
