One evening a week. That is the honest number and it goes at the top, because every version of this post where it turned up in paragraph four got replies from people who had already decided I was worth a great deal more time than I have.
Thirty three, the 905, switch, six years in. I am a single parent. My child is with me almost all of the time, my mother takes one evening a week and has done for two years, and that evening is the entire adult portion of my life outside work.
What that means: I will not be spontaneous, I cannot stay out, and I will be checking my phone. It also means that when I am there I am extremely there, because that evening is precious and I have no intention of spending it distracted.
I switch. Over the last two years I have wanted to be led far more often than not, which I suspect is obvious from everything above, and I have deliberately not made a rule of it because I do not want to lose the other half permanently.
Not looking for anybody who wants to meet my child, now or ever, and that is not a slow yes. Not looking for daily messaging, which I will be bad at. Not looking for somebody who suggests I could find more time if I were better organised, which the last one did, twice.
