woman, looking for women, and i am starting to think the settings on these sites are decorative.

my profile says it. the filter is set. there is a line in the bio that says it again in plain words because i thought maybe the filter was not visible to people browsing. and yet somewhere between two thirds and three quarters of everything that arrives is from men, a fair chunk of it from men who have clearly read the line, because a few of them mention it.

i am not upset about it exactly, it is more that it has made the whole thing feel pointless. i joined to meet women and i spend my time managing a queue of people i am not looking for, and the actual women i have seen on there are outnumbered so heavily that i wonder if there are any.

is this every site or have i picked badly? and is there wording that works better than what i have got, or is this just what happens and everyone i know has quietly stopped bothering.

What the handbook says about this

Everyone on this board is standing at the same door with a different reason for not opening it. The handbook takes the three in order: what the thing actually is, the routes people take to meet anyone, and the slower version where the person you want to explore with is already in the house.
