Nine years together and we have never lived in the same flat, for a reason that is faintly embarrassing: neither of us will give one up. Mine is rent controlled and hers has a garden, and in this city that is not a lifestyle choice, it is a hostage situation.
Forty three and forty six, one of us in Noord and one across the water. Both women, both experienced, both leading in this rather than following. It has turned out to suit us extremely well and after a few years of explaining ourselves we have stopped. We see each other four or five nights a week. We have two front doors. Nobody has ever had to negotiate whose turn it is to be left alone.
We are looking for one submissive woman for a long arrangement with both of us. Two households means two sets of expectations, which is more complicated than it sounds and which we would rather over explain at the beginning than discover later.
We are slow, we are talkative, and we still have a written agreement from a previous arrangement that we are happy to use as a starting point.
Not looking for anybody who wants to move in with anybody, since there is nowhere to move to. Not looking for a person who wants to be passed between us. Not looking for someone uncomfortable that we do not look like a conventional couple, because after nine years we are not going to start. And not looking for anybody hoping that one of these flats eventually becomes hers, since the whole arrangement works precisely because nobody is waiting for that.
