We have met four couples in two years and in every single one of them the man was leading. That is not a complaint about any of them, who were uniformly pleasant, but the conversations kept arriving at a point where the two men were expected to have something in common and neither of them ever did.
Forty seven and forty nine, the Jewellery Quarter, married fifteen years, ten of them arranged as they are now.
I lead. He does not, and he has no ambition to. What we have found is that couples like us are apparently rarer, or quieter, or simply not writing posts, and the effect is that we keep being the interesting exception in the room, which becomes tiring somewhere around the second hour of the first evening.
So we would like to meet a couple where the woman is in charge. To start with that is the whole of it: two women who can talk to each other about how they run a household, and two men who can talk about whatever they like. If anything more developed we would both be open to it, and neither of us is in the least hurry.
Not looking for a single man who has read the first line and become excited. Not looking to explain or justify the arrangement, which we have now done at length four times. And not looking for a couple trying this configuration out to see how it feels, because we are fifteen years in and the difference shows almost immediately.
