We both teach. Same district, different campuses. Our contracts have language in them about conduct that is broad enough to mean whatever anybody wants it to mean, and we have watched what happens to colleagues when a rumour starts.
That is the frame for everything that follows, and we know it will read as paranoia to people whose jobs are not like this. Thirty six and thirty eight, east side, together twelve years. Four years ago the conversation happened and it turned out we had both been waiting for it. Since then it has been ours, at home, and nobody knows.
Both of us are submissive, which is the awkward part. We would like to find one dominant, or a couple, for something regular and long. Neither of us wants to lead and we have both tried, kindly, for the other, and it was a failure both times in a way that was actually quite funny afterwards.
What we can offer is enormous reliability, a house that is genuinely private, and two people who are used to being told what to do by an institution and would rather be told by a person.
What we need: no photographs, no names, nothing digital, no contact during the working day, and a complete stop to everything for the three weeks around the start of term. Not looking for anyone who wants to meet at our workplace side of the metro. Not looking for a person who will find the fear excessive. Not looking for anything at all during August.
