Three weeks a quarter I vanish, and the other nine I am here

- someone who can read a fiscal calendar without sighing at it
- Experience
- Six years, two dynamics, both damaged by the same three weeks.
- Around
- uptown, Dallas
Close week and the fortnight in front of it take me out of circulation four times a year, and they do it on dates that are published a year in advance, which means there is no excuse for anybody being surprised by them.
Two people have been caught out by them anyway. Both times the pattern was identical: fine for a couple of months, then a quarter turned over, I disappeared into work for three weeks, and the tone of the messages when I came back had changed. Neither of them said it was the reason. It was the reason.
Thirty eight, uptown, submissive, six years. I work in finance for a company you would recognise and I am not going to say which. My week outside those stretches is genuinely open and I am one of the most available people on this board for nine months of the year.
What I want is a dynamic with rules that can go dormant and then wake up. Something I can carry into a bad fortnight in a small way, a standing instruction, a thing I do every night whatever else happened, and then a proper resumption afterwards. I have never had that. Both times we tried to keep the full thing running and it broke.
I am not interested in impact. I am interested in being held to something. Being told the standard and then being asked, honestly, whether I met it. Not looking for anyone who wants constant contact. Not looking for a person who thinks a job is an excuse rather than a fact.
