Fifty three, in an apartment for the first time since my twenties, and free

- Looking for
- somebody unhurried who is also starting a second version of their life
- Experience
- Twenty years, all of it inside one marriage, none of it since.
- Around
- uptown, Dallas
The house sold in February and I moved into an apartment with a lift and a view of a car park and I have never been happier about anything. Twenty six years of a lawn. Twenty six years of a garage full of things belonging to people who left.
Fifty three, now uptown, switch, and everything I know I learned inside a marriage that had this in it from the beginning and lasted twenty two years. We switched, easily, for two decades, and when it ended I had no idea how any of this worked outside a house with two people in it who already knew everything about each other.
So I am new in a way that a stated experience of twenty years completely fails to describe. I have never negotiated with a stranger. I have never had to explain what I like from a standing start.
What I want, eventually, is another long thing. I am not built for anything else. But I am in no hurry whatsoever and I would like to spend a while just talking to people who understand what I am talking about, because I currently know nobody at all.
I have privacy for the first time in my adult life and I am still working out what to do with it. Not looking for anybody who wants to move quickly. Not looking to hear about how liberating my situation must be. Not looking for someone in the middle of the same thing at a much earlier stage, because we would both drown.
