I work with horses. I am the size and shape you would expect and I talk the way you would expect. People take one look and decide which half of this I must be, and they are usually wrong about it.
I switch, and if I am honest the half I am better at is the one nobody assumes. I learned it late, in my thirties, from a woman patient enough to get past my own idea of myself. That took about a year and it is the single best thing that ever happened to me. Forty eight. Houston, though my working day is a long way west of it and starts early. Divorced twelve years, no interest in marrying again, very interested in something long and steady.
What I want is somebody who can go either way without needing a summit meeting about it every time. The negotiation matters, I am not dismissing it, I have just found that after a while with the right person it becomes a look rather than a conversation. I am not much of a talker in writing. That is the honest weakness of a post like this and I know it is a poor start.
Straightforward, reliable, up before five. If you want somebody who turns up when he said he would, I am exactly that.
