Nights in the medical district, awake when nobody else is

- somebody whose hours are as wrong as mine
- Experience
- Seven years, both sides, more time topping lately.
- Around
- Midtown, Houston
My alarm goes off at half past five in the evening. That is the whole problem in one sentence.
I am thirty four, I work nights in Houston, and I do four in a row and then have three days where I am a normal person with a slight hangover from being awake at the wrong times. I have tried dating people on the day shift. It goes fine for six weeks and then somebody gets tired of Sunday brunch being my midnight. Switch. I lean toward topping now, but I spent plenty of years on the other side and I do not think of it as a phase I grew out of. If you only want one direction from me that is fine, say so, and we can work out which one.
What I actually want is somebody I can message at four in the morning about nothing. Everything else follows from that. I have had two arrangements that were correctly negotiated and dead as a doornail, because neither of us liked the other much. Not interested in anyone who wants to meet within the week. Not interested in being asked what I look like in a uniform, which happens more than you would think and stops being funny fast.
Other nurses welcome. So are shift workers of every other kind. Anyone who has ever eaten a full dinner at nine in the morning will understand me immediately, and everybody else has about ten messages of patience before they get bored.
