Not there yet. Moving to Houston in October and starting early

- Three years, all of it in one city, all of it ending in September.

I do not live in Houston yet. I will in October, and I am posting now because the last time I moved somewhere I spent eight months knowing nobody, and I am not doing that again.
Twenty six, submissive, three years in. Where I live now I have a dynamic that ends when I leave, which we have both known since I got the job offer and which has been strange to plan around. He has been generous about it. I am telling you because I would rather you knew I am arriving with something recently finished than have you work it out later and wonder what I was hiding. What I want in Houston is not immediately a new dynamic. What I want is to know a few people, understand how things work there, and not spend a year being the new person guessing. If something develops out of that over the winter, good.
I am coming from a place where none of this was open at all, and everything I have read says Houston is easier than it looks from outside. I would like to hear from people who actually live there whether that is true or just what people say about it. I will be in the city for a weekend in September to find somewhere to live. Coffee with anybody willing would honestly help. Not looking for somebody to arrange my life before I have arrived. Not looking for offers of a place to stay, which I have had twice already and which made me uneasy both times.
