I have been doing this online since I was twenty four and I have never been in a room with anybody. That is embarrassing to type out and it is the central fact of the post, so it goes first.
It was not a plan. I grew up at the far north edge of this city where nothing is walkable and everybody is an hour of freeway away, and the internet was simply where everything was. I have had two long online dynamics, one for nearly two years, and both were real to me. Tasks, rules, daily contact, all of it. The second ended when she said, kindly, that I was using it as a way of never actually doing anything. She was right.
Thirty one. Submissive. What I want has not changed: structure, service, somebody who keeps track of me. What is different now is that I want it to happen in a room, and I have accepted that this means driving. The middle of town is under an hour on a Sunday and closer to two on a Thursday evening. I have a reliable truck and nothing at all on a weekend. I know I am going to be awkward the first time. I have thought about that far more than is useful.
What I would ask for is somebody willing to meet somewhere ordinary and public first, with nothing attached to it, so that I stop being a person who only exists in text.
If you have made this transition yourself, I would genuinely like to hear how it went for you.
