Thirty five, out past the west edge, and the wind has not stopped since March

- Looking for
- someone who finds a long drive worth doing twice
- Experience
- Six years, both roles, mostly crammed into travel weekends.
- Around
- the far west side, Houston
There is nothing out here and I mean that affectionately. Rice, wind, a sky that goes all the way down to the ground. It is forty minutes to the edge of Houston and another hour to anywhere inside it once the freeways fill, and that is the reason I am typing this rather than meeting anybody.
Thirty five. I farm with my brother, and the honest state of my social life is that everybody I went to school with is married and I am the one who stayed strange. Switch, six years. Almost all of my experience has come from travelling: I save up days, drive somewhere with actual people in it, and cram a year of this into a weekend. That is not a way to build anything and I have finally admitted it to myself.
What I want is somebody who would treat the distance as a project rather than a problem. Ninety minutes each way at six in the evening. Fifty on a Sunday morning. I have done both more than once and I would do it weekly for the right person, and in between I am a very good correspondent, because there is not a great deal else to do in the evenings.
I need somebody who is not squeamish about my life. There is blood on my boots some days. I am up at five. Harvest means I vanish for three weeks and will not be answering anyone.
I would rather have one person who understands that than five who find it charming for a month and then stop writing.
