My wife asked me to write this and will read it before it goes anywhere, which is the arrangement for everything we do now.
We are fifty four and fifty two, married twenty seven years, Houston. Two grown children, both moved out, and a house that got very quiet very suddenly. That quiet is genuinely how this started. We had a conversation last autumn that neither of us had ever had, and it turned out we had both been thinking about the same thing separately for a long time. Neither of us has any experience. We have read a great deal, some of it useless. We have agreed a short list of things we are curious about and a much longer list of things we are not.
What we think we want is a woman, roughly our age or older, who has done this before and would be willing to lead. She would be in charge of both of us, or of me with my wife present, and we are honestly not sure which, and would want to talk it through properly. We know this is a common enough post and that it usually comes from people who are less ready than they think. We might be those people. We would rather find that out slowly. Nothing quick. Nothing hidden from each other. Nothing involving anybody we already know.
We will both come to any meeting. That is the one thing we are certain of.
