Monday morning I am in a van heading for wherever the contract is, and I sleep in a travel inn somewhere in the Midlands until Thursday night. I have done it for six years. The money is why, and before anybody suggests it, no, there is nothing equivalent locally.
Thirty seven, Wirral when I am anywhere, switch, nine years in and nothing that has lasted longer than a year.
I am not asking anybody to accept scraps. What I am asking for is somebody who genuinely prefers a life with a lot of space in it. I am completely present from Friday evening to Sunday night, and completely absent otherwise except for the phone, which I am good at.
Either direction works for me. I have found that I lead better when I am away, oddly, because it is all words and structure, and I follow better when I am home. What I would like is one person, ongoing, who takes the shape of this seriously rather than assuming it will change.
Not looking for anybody who needs to see me midweek. Not looking to be told I should find a different job, which my mother has covered thoroughly. Not looking for someone who will be fine with it for two months and then start counting.
