I have spent four years going to Manchester and I am done with it

- Looking for
- somebody in this city, for something that does not involve a timetable
- Experience
- Seven years, several connections, almost all of them an hour away.
- Around
- the city centre, Liverpool
Four years of this has happened at the other end of a train line. Everything I have done, everybody I have met, all of it over there, and every single evening ending with me watching the clock from half nine onwards because of the last train back.
Thirty nine, city centre, switch, seven years in. I am not saying anything against Manchester. There are more people, there is more going on, and I understand exactly why everyone drifts that way. But I have realised that I have never once had a dynamic where somebody could just come round, and that has quietly shaped every one of them into an event rather than a relationship.
So this post is a deliberate attempt to find somebody here. I know the pool is smaller. I have decided that a smaller pool of people I can see on a Tuesday beats a larger one that requires forward planning and a return ticket.
I lead more than I follow, roughly two to one, and I am open about wanting both.
Not looking for anybody who will suggest we meet in the middle, because the middle is a car park. Not looking for something that only happens at weekends. Not looking to be told that an hour is nothing, which it is not, at eleven at night, in February.
