Moved here three weeks ago and know nobody at all

- Looking for
- someone patient with a person who is new to the city and to this
- Experience
- Almost none. One short thing at university.
- Around
- east, London
I have been in London for three weeks, I am twenty four, and my entire social life is four colleagues and a man in the flat below who has told me twice about his boiler.
I moved for a graduate job, I live in the east because it was what I could afford, and I am still doing the thing where I get on the wrong train confidently. Everyone here seems to have known everyone for a decade. I do not know how you break into that and I have decided asking is less humiliating than waiting. On the actual subject: one short thing at university with someone who was also working it out, which was sweet and clumsy and ended when the term did. So essentially nothing. I know what I am drawn to and I have no practical experience of it whatsoever.
I would like to find one person to learn with rather than doing the rounds. I am aware that is not how this usually goes. I am aware, as well, that a young person new to a city with no local friends is the exact profile people warn about. I have read all the warnings. I intend to be irritatingly cautious: public places, telling a friend, no rush, and no is a complete sentence in both directions.
If that caution reads as distrust of you specifically, it is not. It is just what I promised myself before I posted.
