TV writer, employed half the year, and honest about both halves

- Looking for
- somebody whose interest does not depend on how my year is going
- Experience
- Fifteen years, both sides, several long gaps.
- Around
- the Valley, Los Angeles
For five months of a good year I work eleven hour days and have nothing left over. For the other seven I am at home, broke, and available at eleven in the morning on a Tuesday. There is no third state and I have stopped hoping one will appear.
Forty two, the Valley, switch, fifteen years in. The awkward part is that people meet me in one half and are disappointed by the other. In the working half I am tired and unreliable about plans. In the other half I have a great deal of time and considerably less money, which makes me exactly the sort of person who proposes a walk instead of dinner.
What I want is a dynamic with enough structure to survive both. Standing expectations. Things I do daily whatever else is going on. Somebody who does not read a hard week as a loss of interest and does not read a free month as a sudden surplus of it.
On the switching: I lead about as often as I follow, and I want both from the same person if that is possible. Usually it is not. I have accepted several times that it would only ever go one way and every one of those slowly went flat.
Please do not write to ask what I have worked on. It is the least interesting thing about me and the answer will not impress you.
