Half the posts on this board are a negotiation about who crosses the county. I am going to remove that argument. I will do the driving. I like driving, I have a car I enjoy, and I would rather spend an hour listening to something than spend three weeks arguing about a midpoint.
Thirty four, the east side, dominant, eight years in. Here is what I want in exchange, and I think it is a fair trade. When I say I am coming on Thursday, be there on Thursday. If the plan has to change, tell me before I am on the road rather than while I am on it. And do not read my flexibility as evidence that my time is worth less than yours, which happened twice last year and both times it ended in the same week.
Beyond logistics: I want a dynamic that runs weekly, with structure that holds between visits. Tasks, standards, a check in, and somebody who tells me the truth about how the week actually went.
I am reasonably strict, I am not remotely cruel, and I have a strong preference for something that becomes ordinary over months rather than something intense that has burned out by August.
If you are in the far Valley or the South Bay and have quietly assumed nobody will make the trip, this post is aimed directly at you. If you are twelve minutes away and still cannot make a plan stick, it is not.
