I own a small business and I am there six days a week, and anybody who tells you that working for yourself means freedom has never done it. Sunday is my day. It has been my only day for eleven years.
Forty nine, downtown, dominant, twenty years in. So the arrangement I am proposing is narrow, and I would rather be honest about that than have you discover in week four that you assumed there would be more. Sundays, from late morning until whenever it ends. Contact during the week, yes, but brief and often at odd hours, because I answer messages between customers and at eleven at night when I am counting the till.
Inside that day I want something with real structure. Preparation beforehand, a proper stretch of time, and an honest conversation at the end of it. I do not want a rushed evening. I want a whole day that has a shape.
What I bring is consistency, because a business that opens at nine every morning does not survive anything else. I am practical, unfussy, and I notice immediately when somebody is pretending to be fine.
The wrong person here wants a partner in the full sense. I have not got the hours, and I am too old to promise them and then fail. The right person probably has a demanding life of their own and wants one day a week that is entirely unlike all the others.
