We have a big table and nobody to put round it any more

- Looking for
- two or three people for a regular dinner and nothing else
- Experience
- Together sixteen years, this at home for eleven, no meetings ever.
- Around
- Stockport, Manchester
We bought a house with a stupidly big kitchen table on the assumption that we would fill it, and for a few years we did, and then people had babies and moved to Leeds and stopped answering group messages. It now seats six and we are two.
Forty two and forty four, Stockport, together sixteen years. This has been part of our marriage for eleven of them, quietly, at home, and we have never met another soul who does any of it. Not one. We know that is unusual and it has started to feel like a strange gap in an otherwise sociable life.
So this is a post about dinner. We would like two or three people who would come once a month, eat far too much, and talk about all of it like adults. That is genuinely the whole offer. We are decent cooks, we are funny after the second glass, and neither of us is subtle enough to be running a hidden agenda.
Nothing physical is on the table, so to speak. We are closed and we intend to stay closed. We suspect there are other people in this city sitting on the same secret with nobody to say it out loud to.
Not looking for a third. Not looking for anybody who is only coming in the hope that we change our minds by pudding.
