From June I do not plan anything more than a week out

- Fort Lauderdale, Miami
From the start of June to the end of November I will not commit to anything more than about a week ahead, and once or twice a season I will cancel with a day's notice because there is a storm somewhere in the Atlantic and my whole week rearranges itself. Everybody who has lived here long enough understands this. Everybody who has not thinks I am being difficult.
Forty four, Fort Lauderdale, switch, seventeen years in.
I have a job that puts me at the sharp end of it and a mother nearby who cannot manage a preparation on her own. When it comes, that is my week, and there is no version of my life where it is not.
What I have learned is that this either bothers somebody enormously or not at all, and that the people it does not bother are almost always people who have been here a long time.
The rest of the year I am extremely easy. December to May I am reliable, available and much better company.
I go both ways. After seventeen years I have stopped having a theory about it and simply notice which way a particular person makes me lean.
What I am after is something ongoing and adult, with a person who can hold a structure loosely across an unpredictable six months and tightly across a predictable six.
