Thirty years here, and everyone I liked has already moved away

- somebody with roots, for something that gets to be old
- Experience
- Twenty seven years, four dynamics, and a very long memory.

- Coral Gables, Miami
I have lived in this city for thirty years and I have watched the entire social world I was part of disperse. People moved north for cheaper rent, west for family, or simply left when the place stopped being affordable. Of the eleven people I knew well when I started doing this, one is still here, and we have lunch four times a year.
Fifty nine, Coral Gables, dominant, twenty seven years in.
What I want is not exotic. One person, ongoing, with a structure we build over years rather than months, and enough shared history that eventually nothing needs explaining. I have had four of those. Two ended when somebody moved, one ended badly and was my fault, and the longest ran nine years.
I am formal in the way that people who started a long time ago tend to be, which means titles, a certain way of speaking, and standing rules that I keep as strictly as I expect you to.
I have a house, time, and a considerable amount of patience.
I would rather you were established here. Not out of bitterness, although there is some. It is that the thing I want takes years to become itself, and I have run out of appetite for starting the first year over again with somebody new.
