Sixty two, and the only thing I miss is how long things took

- Looking for
- one person, ongoing, with several months of talking at the front of it
- Experience
- Thirty years, four dynamics, none of them begun in less than a season.
- Around
- the centre, Moscow
People my age are supposed to complain that everything has got worse. It has not. Negotiation is better than it was, people are far clearer about limits, and the assumption that an experienced man is automatically trustworthy has mercifully died. All of that is an improvement and I say so to anybody who will listen.
What I miss is the pace. Everything used to start slowly because there was no way to make it go faster. You met somebody, you saw them again a month later, and by the time anything happened you had a fairly good idea who they were. Now the machinery allows a thing to go from nothing to serious in eleven days, and eleven days is not enough for either person to know what they have agreed to.
Sixty two, dominant, the centre, thirty years in. Retired from work that took up too much of it. Four dynamics, all long, the shortest three years.
What I want is one person for something ongoing, with several months of conversation at the front of it. Not because I doubt you. Because I have watched what a slow beginning does to the middle, four times, and I am not going to start doing it differently now.
I am formal in manner and easy in temperament. I read a great deal and I am extremely good at leaving people alone when they need it. Not looking for anybody who wants a decision this month. Not looking for someone who finds an older man reassuring purely because he is older. Not looking for anything that requires me to be somewhere at short notice.
