I live with my mother and my grandmother and I am twenty eight and it is completely normal and I would like to not have that conversation again. Rent in this city is what it is, my salary is what it is, and the arithmetic has not changed since I left university.
What it means for this is simple and worth saying early: I cannot host, I will not be bringing anybody home, and I have to be able to say where I am going in terms that make sense to two women who worry about me. That last part is not negotiable and it is not a sign that I am not serious.
Twenty eight, São Paulo, switch, three years. One dynamic, eighteen months, all of it at his apartment, which worked fine and which I mention so you know I am not new to the arrangement.
I lead a little more than I follow, and the following is the part I am more curious about, because I have done less of it.
What I want is somebody a bit older, with their own life sorted, who is not going to find my living situation either funny or a problem to be solved. I have had one person offer to help me move out, in the third week, which was kind and completely mad.
I am free most evenings and Sundays are family, always, entirely, and if you cannot work around a Sunday lunch that lasts six hours then neither of us will enjoy the next six months.
