This city is two different places depending on the month

In January half of this city is somewhere else and the roads are drivable for the only four weeks of the year. The rest of the time it is twelve million people and two hours to cross. We prefer January and we are aware that makes us unusual.
We are thirty eight and forty two, together thirteen years, and he has led for six.
What the season does to a board like this is predictable. Every January people who normally have no time at all suddenly have a great deal of it, and by March they are back to fourteen hour days and a commute at either end. We have twice built something over a summer and both times it evaporated in March, and we do not blame anybody for that.
So we are writing in June, in the middle of the worst of it, looking for people who can manage this when the city is at full volume. People whose hours are actually their own, or who work near where they live, or who would rather give us one real Saturday a month than four cancelled Tuesdays.
What we want is friendship first, over a long time, and possibly something more with a couple or a single person much later. We have no interest in anything quick and we are not looking for a third to move in.
We can host, we cook, and we have a spare room that is empty for nine months of the year.
If you are reading this in January, when everybody suddenly has time, please write to us again in May. We will take it much more seriously.
