We leave the city every February and we are not sorry

- Looking for
- a couple who also find that week unbearable
- Experience
- Together eight years, this openly between us for four.
- Around
- the south zone, São Paulo
Every year we shut the apartment, get in the car, and drive to a small town in the mountains for the whole week, and every year somebody tells us we are wasting living here. We have made our peace with being the two most boring people in São Paulo for seven days a year.
We are thirty three and thirty six, together eight years. She leads, I do not, and it has been openly between us for four.
We mention it because it turns out to be a surprisingly good filter. The people we have got on with best in this have all been people who also find that week exhausting, and the ones who could not understand it tended to want a version of this that we do not: loud, social, several people at once, everything happening at maximum volume.
What we want is a couple to know slowly. Dinners, conversation, long messages, and eventually perhaps something more if all four of us are certain. We are not in a hurry and we have never once enjoyed anything that happened fast.
We are in the south of the city, we can host, and we are both free most evenings.
We would want to write for a while, and we would want both of you writing, and we would want to meet in public a few times before anything else is discussed.
And if you are also leaving town in February, tell us where you go, because the place we have been using for four years has been discovered.
