Thirty years married and this only came up last year

- Thirty years married. Fourteen months of anything at all.
- Around
- the far south zone, São Paulo
We got married at twenty three and we are fifty three now and this conversation started in our kitchen fourteen months ago, prompted by nothing either of us can identify. Since then we have read a great deal, tried a few things, and had two arguments that neither of us saw coming.
São Paulo, both of us. He is the one who wants to submit, which was the part that surprised us both, and which took him about four months to say in a complete sentence.
What we are looking for is other people around our age who have been through this. Not instruction exactly. Company, and honest answers. We have found that most of what is written about starting out is aimed at people in their twenties, and the questions we have are different: what do you tell adult children, how do you manage this when everybody you know has known you for thirty years, and does the embarrassment ever stop.
We are not looking for anything physical with anybody. Possibly not ever. We would rather say that clearly than let somebody invest in a maybe.
We are sociable and quite funny once we relax, and we have a large house and no idea what to do with it now.
We would want to write for a while and meet somewhere public and probably talk for four hours, because that is what happened the one other time we met somebody and it was the best evening we have had in a year.
