We bought a house we can just about afford an hour and a half from where we both work, and the honest result is a mortgage, a long commute, and roughly one social evening a fortnight between us.
Thirty eight and forty one, the west, together twelve years, six of them with this in the marriage.
What we are looking for is somebody local. That is the entire point of this post. We have tried three times with people from the inner city and every one of them faded out over the drive, which we do not resent, because we would probably have done the same. There are hundreds of thousands of people out here and we cannot believe we are the only ones interested in any of this.
What we want is one person, any gender, for something occasional and warm rather than intense. Once a fortnight, dinner, an evening, a structure all three of us have agreed. We are experienced and not remotely fancy about it.
The house is the good part: space, a garage, no neighbours close enough to matter, and parking that requires neither a permit nor a prayer. Not looking for anything that needs us in the city on a weeknight. Not looking for a person who wants a lot of messaging, because we are both asleep by ten. Not looking to be anybody's occasional adventure out west.
