I have been single for eleven years and I have liked most of them. I am not lonely, I am not looking for somebody to complete anything, and I am not going to manufacture an urgency I do not feel in order to look like a better prospect.
Fifty seven, the west, switch, twenty six years in. Widowed young, one long thing since that ended amicably about a decade ago, and a great deal of very good time on my own in between.
What I want is company and a dynamic with somebody around my own age. Both directions. In practice at this point I lead more often, mostly because the men who write to me are almost always looking to be led, and I have discovered that I enjoy it considerably more than I did at thirty.
I want to be honest about what I am not offering, which is intensity, availability at all hours, and any interest whatsoever in living with anybody ever again. My house is my house. I like getting up at five and having the place to myself.
Not looking for anybody who wants to be looked after, and I say that having been asked twice this year by men my own age who were quite open about it. Not looking to travel far or often. Not looking for anybody in a hurry, because I have all the time in the world and no reason at all to rush any of it.
